Our Assessment Domains Include

What to expect during an assessment

1. Clients will meet with the psychologist to discuss their concerns and goals for the assessment

It is very important that both the client and psychologist fully understand the purpose of the assessment. Next, a thorough developmental history interview is conducted. This allows the psychologist to gain as much information about the client and their family as possible. This interview often lasts 60-90 minutes. Families are sent home with questionnaire to complete, usually a package for the parents/caregivers and a package for the teacher (if relevant). It will be determined if additional collateral information will need to be collected (e.g., report cards, reports/assessments from other professionals).

2. Face-to-face testing is conducted with the client

The amount of testing depends on the reason for the assessment but often takes upwards of 4 to 6 hours, scheduled over two sessions.

3. The psychologist consolidates the information gathered through the interview, testing, parent/caregiver and teacher questionnaires, and collateral information.

This step requires many hours of careful and thorough analysis and interpretation. A report is written that clearly explains the results (including any diagnoses) and includes individualized recommendations.

4. A meeting is scheduled to review the results and discuss the recommendations.

Further meetings can be scheduled, if needed (e.g., with schools, other professionals). A follow-up meeting at no extra charge can occur within 6 to 12 months if requested.

Zone Health & Performance Offers Cognitive Assessments to Objectively Measure overall cognition

As part of our neurofeedback & biofeedback modalities it is standard practice to objectively check up on areas such as memory, attention, reasoning, and verbal ability—all cognitive abilities you need to function optimally in everyday life. It’s not a test—it’s a quick checkup on how you’re doing today, like a blood pressure cuff for your brain.

Why is Measuring Cognitive Health Important?

We all have a subjective idea of how our brains are doing—some days we feel “off” or have “brain fog,” while other days we feel like we can take on the world. But how much better are we on the good days? Are lifestyle or health changes making a difference? That’s where cognitive assessment comes in. By putting a number to these subjective feelings, we can discover what is causing the good days in order to have more of them. When your brain is performing, every activity in your daily life will be easier, from remembering where you parked your car to doing your taxes.

CBS Health: An Engaging and Scientifically-Validated Cognitive Assessment Platform

Zone uses a leading cognitive assessment platform, CBS Health, to quickly measure brain health. Your healthcare practitioner will offer these measures to assess, monitor, and manage core areas of cognition to ensure that your neurofeedback program is on the right track.

The CBS Health tasks have been validated by decades of scientific research, and are proven to measure the most important aspects of cognition. Performance is directly linked with the areas of your brain that are active when you’re at your sharpest. But more importantly, the tasks are fun, and only take 1.5 – 3 minutes each to complete. Now, not only will you feel better, but you can objectively track how your brain is responding to treatment.

How Do I Get Started?

To get started as part of our neurofeedback program, sign up for a consultation and baseline assessment, or if you’ve already gotten started, ask your practitioner about how to incorporate cognitive assessments into your plan.

IVA+ & TOVA Testing for Adults & Children

IVA+Plus Test

The IVA+Plus is a combined auditory and visual continuous performance test which is designed to help the clinician make an accurate diagnosis of ADHD/ADD in children, adolescents, and adults. The test provides objective data about a person’s ability to concentrate and to avoid making impulsive errors. IVA+Plus provides a wealth of data to help clinicians diagnose and differentiate between the four sub-types of ADHD/ADD.

Test of Variables of Attention (TOVA)

The TOVA. is a computerized continuous performance test (CPT) that is used by clinicians and other professionals in the assessment and treatment of attention problems such as attention deficit disorders and traumatic brain injuries.

There are two types of TOVA test: the visual test measures visual information processing, and the auditory measures auditory information processing. Designed like computer games, both TOVA tests are easy to administer to children (age four and older) as well as adults. TOVA results correlate with the diagnosis of ADHD, Inattentive Type at least 84% of the time and with ADHD, Hyperactive-Impulsive Type at least 86% of the time.
